Association Copy: In 1991, Elspeth Pope, recently retired as a professor in library and information science, met Dr. Melissa Hardie, director of the Hypatia Trust in Cornwall, England. Melissa and her husband, Dr. Philip Budden, had created the Hypatia Trust, a library of published and personal documentation of the achievements of hundreds of creative women. Their collection of more than 15,000 items was housed in a fine building, in the garden next to their home. Their work and Hypatia's story planted the seed that grew into the dream that became the reality of Hypatia-in-the-Woods, a Retreat Center for Women in the Arts, Academe & Business located in Shelton, Washington and founded by Elspeth Pope. We have more of James Holly & Dr. Pope's library available upon request. Her husband James Holly was a blacksmith and metalworker with a formidable library of his own.

Stock Description, May Not Reflect Item

This useful book contains detailed patterns of 68 beautiful weather vanes, each modelled on an original American folk art masterpiece. The complete instructions -- for enlarging and reducing the patterns, making the weather vane, and putting together the standard that supports the weather vane -- make it easy to know which way the wind blows. But that's not all: you can use these charming patterns for dozens of other folk art projects, including Christmas ornaments, cribbage boards, bookends, chopping boards and children's toys.
